macOS

Open Terminal. If you use Homebrew, this is the easiest way.

brew install linecast

Installs it with Homebrew.

uv tool install linecast

No Homebrew? This works with uv instead.

Linux

Open your terminal. You need Python 3.10 or newer.

uv tool install linecast

Installs it with uv.

pipx install linecast

Or with pipx. Community packages also exist for Arch (AUR) and Nix.

Windows

Use Windows Terminal (not the old Command Prompt window). You need Python 3.10 or newer.

uv tool install linecast

Installs it with uv.

pipx install linecast

Or with pipx. Plain pip works too: pip install linecast

Then run it

These work the same on every system. Each opens a live, full-screen app.

linecast weather --location "Cape Coral, FL"
linecast radar --location "Cape Coral, FL"
linecast moon
linecast sky

Tired of typing the location? linecast location set "Cape Coral, FL" saves it. Press ? inside any app to see its keys, add --print for one still frame, and run linecast doctor if something looks wrong.

Want to try it without installing? uvx linecast weather runs it once. You need Official uv installation docs (opens in a new tab) first.
